Summer Distractions, Television Edition
With midterms over, there’s not much else to do but keep up with my reading. Of course, with reading come more procrastination, and that is what I have been doing as of late. Really, anything and everything is a good source of distraction while pretending to do some work for school. Television, novels, cooking, social outings, walks through the parks, exercising, whatever you can name.
Registering for a summer term, it did not occur to me that I wouldn’t have TV to distract me. Okay, that’s partially untrue. I had May Sweeps to carry me through the month of May (dur), but after that, nothing. Nothing but reality show garbage. Except, my beloved So You Think You Can Dance. SYTYCD is, I believe, the one reality show that showcases real talent while others pale in comparison. I used to watch American Idol but then I stopped because I lost interest. After three seasons of SYTYCD, and now a fourth, I’m still watching.
Favourite partners: Twitch & Kherington, and Mark & Chelsie, and Katee & Joshua.
Other than SYTYCD, I haven’t been watching anything else. Which is blasphemy in my eyes, as I’m always at the television or on my computer watching missed episodes. I could be outside and enjoying the sun, but since the weather has been a horrible mess of rain and thunderstorms, I don’t see that happening until there are nice days (like yesterday, Happy Canada Day!).
Okay, to be honest, midterms have been over for more than a few weeks now, and I’m just able to write. Hmm. Living in a dump will do that to you.
Ordered Chaos
I gave up on cleaning.
My desk is in tip-top condition, the floors are 90% cleared of garbage, and the “bookshelf” is organized. The only things remaining are: the top of my dresser where everything, including dust, has accumulated; the closet - it is full of laundry that needs being done; the remaining 10% of my floor right by my bed - all the things I have yet to put away because I don’t have any shelf space for them. Note to self: gather more milk crates to complete shelf unit.
People don’t seem to understand that I am perfectly fine with living in a messy room. As long as my desk and bed have space for me and my computer, I am content. It is an ordered chaos of sorts. Even when I only have a single path from my door to my bed, I know where everything is. I may have to dig through some things, but I know where things are. That is why my mom or grandmother never cleaned my room; if they did, I would not know where a single thing was. I get slightly anal about knowing where things are.
Funny story; my computer’s hard drive is very organized.
